Horizon Campers is a business that always put its customers and their experiences first.
Owners Jason and Mel offer customers a unique buying experience by combining Hire and Sales exclusively of Track Trailer products.
Based in Townsville, on the doorstep of the once in a life time trip to the Cape, Horizon Campers offer the opportunity for couples and families to achieve a dream.
Because Jason and Mel (and their family) all actively live this lifestyle, they have been able to bring a real wealth of experience to hiring and buying, which in turn gives their customers the confidence to get out and do it.
This often results in a strong bond and the customer often becomes part of the family.
Horizon recently celebrated 10 years of making dreams happen and celebrated in good form by creating an owner experience and the first Horizon Bash.
12 x TVANs and 2 x T4s setup at the Hidden Valley Cricket Ground on Friday and Saturday nights, with about 30 owners in attendance.
On the Saturday 22 people in 8 vehicles joined Jason for a 4hr tag-along 4WD tour onto Zig Zag Station. This private cattle property a location that Jason and family regularly spends weekends camped on the banks of Running River.
The convoy tackled some steep descents, traversed about 1000m of dry river sand and climbed up a washed out 4WD track to a lookout point on Mt Bradley.
Jokingly Jason told us that he tried to get at least one owner vehicle bogged but they managed to get through every challenge that he put in front of them.
Other owners either relaxed around camp or headed up to Paluma for a bushwalk or bird watching.
On the Saturday the Horizon family raffled off a range of prizes thanks to Track and Horizon, valued at over $1,800. As a result, $450 was raised which was wholly donated to the Hidden Valley Rural Fire Brigade in lieu of letting us use the facilities at Hidden Valley Cricket Ground.
On Sunday, a qualified guide gave owners a guided walk into Running River Gorge, which was a great experience. The guide imparted information about history of the area and geological formation of the gorge as well as physical assistance and safety to access this more remote site with confidence. The group ranged in age from 7 – 78 years, and everyone was blown away by this little-known secret spot.
Overall feedback was extremely positive and we think most of the attendees would like to attend another Nth Qld gathering next year. All attendees were Queenslanders with the furthest customer travelling 12 hours each way from Gladstone to take part in the weekend activities.
