Track Trailer Established
1985
In the early 80s Alan Mawson transferred his skills in building and architecture to the design of a camper pack that could be attached to any 6×4 box trailer. This camper later became known as the Eagle and employed very well constructed and sealed lockers forming a perimeter with the bed in the middle and a tent attached to the top.
It wasn’t long before the weak link was identified and Alan arranged for Guiding Star Trailers to build a very robust, fully welded and hot dip galvanized trailer to his specification. This trailer employed 60 series Landcruiser leaf springs and shock absorbers, providing wheel travel and ride characteristics at least the equal of the most competent 4x4s of the day. These trailers are still in service and continue to attract excellent resale prices.
Track Eagle
1990
The evolution of the Eagle continued in the early 90s with the adoption of Neville Whithers Sugarglider suspension system. It offered the potential for more wheel travel than the leaf springs and kept pace with the increasingly coil sprung 4x4s entering the market. Track Trailer contributed to the design and then sourced all its production parts from Neville. Meanwhile many other manufactures simply copied the concept and even today most independent suspension trailers and caravans employ this system.

First Military Tender won
1994
In 1994 Track Trailer was invited to tender for the supply of small (500 and 750kg payload) military trailers. It became clear that meeting not only the performance specification but also the product warranty (including latent defect clauses) would be beyond the capability of the existing designs. So a clean sheet of paper was required. This led to the design of the Track Trailer MC2 Asymmetric® Link chassis and suspension system. This system was successfully employed over a range of trailer applications including some with highly sensitive multimillion dollar electronic systems.
MC2 Suspension Developed and made standard on all Track products
1996
In 1996 Track Trailer adopted the MC2 Asymmetric Link® chassis and suspension system for all its recreational and commercial products, bringing the proven performance of in-service military equipment to all clients and applications.
Track Trailer® developed its MC2 Suspension® system from a ‘clean sheet of paper’ to ensure it not only met the required specification but also took advantage of its potential to minimise the need for service and maximise the ease of controllability of the tow vehicle – trailer combination on rough terrain. Its distinctive trademark asymmetric links are another example of form following function and will no doubt be imitated, but the innovation cannot be copied easily nor can the track record be granted to imitators.

The original Tvan was the product of a very strategic program of product development, leveraging off TRACK’s 1996 development and adoption of the MC2 Asymmetric Link® chassis and suspension system for all its recreational and commercial products, bringing the proven performance of in-service military equipment to all clients and applications.
The original Tvan was first revealed in public, as a prototype, in December 1999, and went onto win its first crop of passionate owners as well as winning its class in the Camper Trailer of the Millennium Awards held by the Recreational Vehicle Manufacturers Association of Australia in 2000.
The Tvan quickly became the industry benchmark for off-road reliability and functionality, developing a formidable reputation as the most reliable and refined camper on the market, underpinned with unparalleled engineering and innovation.
CAMPER TRAILER OF MILLENNIUM
2000
Motorhome, Camper Trailer and Caravan Manufacturers joined forces to present the best and most interesting display of Recreational Vehicles ever assembled in Australia.
All members, of the Recreational Vehicle Manufacturers Association of Australia (RVMAA) the fourteen manufacturers independently developed this fine collection displaying vision and innovation.
Track Trailer produced this very different but functional Camper Trailer. The revolutionary style and colours are a far cry from traditional Camper Trailers, it will be interesting to see how they go. (2000)

Starting with a clean sheet of paper, the Topaz design forged the way for a whole new class of off-road caravans – the hybrid, built to go anywhere the 4WD can tow it – immediately attracting critical acclaim.

Criteria included bushability, family-friendliness, comfort, innovation, value, ease of use and ease of setting up.
Motoring journalists Philip Lord and Glenn Torrens joined CTA editor Carlisle Rogers, campertrailers.org founder Rob Sanderson and Trader Classifieds circulation manager Stuart Jones to form the judging team.
Track developed the trailer that helped Thalis win the Hawkie tender.

After four long days of driving, posing, educating and off roading from Rainbow Beach to Land Cruiser Park the CTA Judges declared winners! The Track Tvan was “Awarded Off- Road Camper Trailer of the Year 2011” in its category. The Tvan was competing against some of the best products Australia has to offer, from hard floor to soft floor variants.

The Tvan is a true Aussie camping legend and for good reason — go deep into the outback and it’s Tvans you’ll see. While the Tvan is ideal for couples, it is also suitable for smaller families with the addition of bunk beds in the back. The Tvan was, and is, unique as well as innovative, which is probably why it hasn’t been copied by overseas clone manufacturers. The MC2 suspension is still the design’s greatest single feature.

TRACK totally redesigned and reengineered its off-road hybrid with the release of the T4.
Packed full of innovations – including central drawer locking, electric roof lift, a stow-away table, solid shower screen extensions, zero-gravity blinds – and featuring the latest electronics available, all controlled through Redarc RedVision, the T4 immediately stood out in the off-road RV marketplace, including winning the Good Design Award against a set of design criteria covering ‘good design’, ‘design innovation’ and ‘design impact’.

The Good Design Awards Jury spent several days evaluating each entry according to a strict set of design criteria which covers ‘good design’, ‘design innovation’ and ‘design impact’. Projects recognised with a Good Design Award must demonstrate excellence in all areas and convince the Jury they are worthy of recognition.
Dr. Brandon Gien, CEO of Good Design Australia said: “Receiving a Good Design Award at this level is a significant achievement given the very high calibre of entries received this year.”
“Australia’s Good Design Award is more than a symbol of design excellence, it represents the hard work and dedication towards an innovative outcome that will ultimately improve our quality of life. These projects showcase the brilliance of design and the potential it has to improve our world,” said Dr. Gien.
The Good Design Awards Jury praised the entry commenting:

Trakmaster & Pioneer Campers join the TRACK family

TRACK acquired these long-standing Australian brands from Gason Industries, ensuring that they stayed in Australia, with all the intellectual property for both the design/manufacture and marketing of both brands passing to TRACK.
Release of the Pioneer Verve

TRACK added a full-height hybrid to its model offering with the release of the Pioneer Verve, featuring a custom designed chassis and uniquely tuned Trakmaster Trak-Two independent trailing arm coil suspension with twin shocks – leveraging the 2020 acquisition of these two iconic brands (albeit a little later than intended with the intervention of COVID-19) – while drawing on TRACK’s unique DNA.

The second-leg of TRACK’s full-height hybrid program, evolving from the Verve, the Trakmaster Explorer brought the Trakmaster brand back to the Australian market, honouring the legacy of over 25 years of refinement and luxury, underpinned by rugged reliability.
