Support our very own Service & Parts Manager, Stuart Gruchy, as he undertakes 1,500km on a postie bike for a very worthy cause
Bridge Builders Ltd is a National, not-for-profit youth organisation, delivering youth services around Australia. As a charity, they don’t receive any government funding for the youth services that they provide and they rely solely on business partnership, events and their dedicated volunteers.
We are riding Postie Bikes 1,500km over 5 days and are visiting some incredible towns such as Echuca, Beechworth, Jindabyne and Lakes Entrance in order to raise funds and awareness for Bridge Builders.
I was approached by a very good friend of mine to attend a meeting at Bridge Builders HQ about the Postie Bike Challenge Ride. After listening and understanding what Bridge Builders was about and being a father myself, I had no hesitation in signing up. I was moved by the stories that were told by some of the young adults that had been through the whole process at Bridge Builders. They wouldn’t be here today if it wasn’t for this organisation. The next step was booking my Learners at HART in Kilsyth which I passed!
So, the search for a “reliable” Postie Bike was on. I wanted a later model that had push button electric start and EFI. I found one in Pakenham. It’s a 2015 Build that had done 21,000kms. I took it to First Class Motorcycles in Lilydale as they are supporting all of the riders in getting our bikes “fit for purpose”. Unfortunately for me there was some internal engine damage so an Engine rebuild was added to the expense. I wasn’t too upset as now I know it will make the 1,500kms we have to travel. I fitted some lovely white wall tyres and then wrapped the Postie Bike in blue which matches my car! I also fitted 2 lightbars on the front to light up the road a lot better.
I have some fantastic sponsors on board so far; Track Trailer, Outback HQ, Club 4×4, Lilydale Brake & Clutch, Acclaim Accident Repairs in Lilydale, Aus4wd and Marlin Signs. Many individuals have also donated which is fantastic!
